There are a ton of zombie novels out there and usually they don't interest me. This one is special because it's set post zombie apocalypse where life kind of continues as normal. There are still zombies everywhere but what's awesome about this book is the world building involved; it's a dystopian society where everyone lives in real and justified fear of contamination but the protag was born three years after the apocalypse and is just fine.
What I like is all the ways in which society has changed: bleached highlights are common because of the decontamination showers everyone has to take, all animals above forty pounds can be zombified so they've started breeding tiny dogs, zombie hunters are called Irwins etc.
It's a pretty gripping book. There are a couple of things that might squick people so if you're interested in reading it or get a copy of it and want me to warn you (and don't care about spoilers), just let me know!
